Tree uprooted during storm, lands on house
News

RICHMOND, VA (WWBT) - The storms ended hours ago, but the cleanup is just beginning. One Richmond couple tell us they are still shaken up from the storms after a huge tree fell on their home landing on their bed.

The home is in the 2000 block of Oberlin Road, It uprooted and fell through the couples window and crunched the residents cars. The couple, Jane and Ranger Guyton say were just inside their home when the storm starting coming through.

Mrs. Guyton says she had just finished a TV show and was about to get ready for bed. Good thing she didn't because the bedroom took most of the damage. When that tree came through their window her husband says part of it even landed where she normally sits. When her husband opened the door to the bedroom he says the whole bedroom looked like it exploded. The couple says they could have very easily been killed.

That tree also brought down power lines at their home and all over the cul-de-sac. The couple says they've lived here for nearly 30 years and they say they've never experienced storm damage this bad here.

Ii just went ballistic," Jane said. "I was hysterical. I didn't know what to do I still don't know what to do."

To make things even worse her husband just had arm surgery now he has to deal with this on top of that.

Power crews have been out all night fixing lines and putting power back on to these homes. The families here will have a lot of damage to clean up in the daylight, but the couple says they're grateful to be alive today.
