RICHMOND, VA (WWBT)- Richmond Police have arrested three men near VCU after they allegedly tried to rob two people.

Police said the two victims were walking in an alley at 2:26 a.m. in the 900 block of Norton Street when three men confronted them and demanded money. When the victims said they had no money, the three suspects beat them, then got into a vehicle and drove off.

A few minutes later, police pulled over a vehicle in the 400 block of East Broad Street that matched the description of the vehicle used to get away. The three men in the vehicle were detained and questioned by investigators.

The victims told police they were not hurt and refused medical treatment.
