UPDATE: RPD investigating Saturday morning bank robbery | News
RICHMOND, VA (WWBT)- Police are looking for two men they say held up a Richmond bank Saturday. The armed robbery happened at the Wells Fargo on the corner of West Broad Street and North Thompson Street.
The main entrance was blocked off with crime scene tape while forensic teams investigated the robbery.
Police say two armed men stormed the entrance around 9:30 Saturday morning.
Investigators say both are 6'2" and they were wearing dark-colored hooded sweatshirts.
Officers say the men ran out the same way they came in towards the parking lot and south along 195.
"I was really actually surprised because I wouldn't expect that to happen here with all the people coming by especially in the early morning hours," said Wells Fargo Customer, Ryan Harrison.
Harrison pulled up hoping to make some transactions, not expecting the blocked off entrance.
Police say security cameras may have captured the men inside.
"I'm sure they did," Harrison said. "That was not wise of them considering they have so many cameras inside."
Detectives continue to look over the evidence in hopes of catching the suspects and getting everything back to normal.
Anyone with information that could lead police to an arrest can call Crime Stoppers at 780-1000.
