Moon Landing Anniversary

July 20, 1969 was a big day for astronauts Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin when they became the first humans to land on the moon. Six hours later, on July 21, Armstrong became the first person to actually step onto the moon, which he described to a world-wide audience on live television as "one small step for man..." Watch the full quote and learn some other cool things about that historic lunar landing on this Science Museum of Virginia video!

Meet RAL Volunteer of the Year: Sherry Campbell

Meet RAL Volunteer of the Year: Sherry Campbell

The Richmond Animal League is one of the oldest and most well-renowned rescue groups in the Richmond area. We are also run almost  exclusively by over 400 volunteers who supply us with everything from fundraising and accounting to facilities management, foster care, adoption counseling and vet assisting- not to mention the twice-daily feeding, cleaning and exercising of our 20+ dogs and nearly 100 cats. Every year we highlight a volunteer who goes above and beyond for the cats and dogs of RAL; someone who embodies our mission and shows strong leadership and commitment to our work. RAL's 2011 volunteer of the year is Sherry Campbell. Sherry is the crew leader on the Tuesday and Wednesday morning cat crews, and helps showcase our adoptable cats and kittens at offsite adoption events.
