Partial Lane Closure on Manchester Bridge starting tomorrow

City of Richmond Department of Public Works has announced a partial lane closure on the Manchester Bridge from tomorrow, May 23 through Friday, June 24, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. There will be partial lane and shoulder closures in the northbound and southbound directions during inspections of the bridge as part of the Structural Analysis and Feasibility Study.

Traffic alert: Pedestrian Safety Improvements

A traffic alert for drivers in the Downtown area. Pedestrian signal heads, pedestrian pedestal poles, pedestrian push buttons will be installed at the following intersections:

5th Street and Clay Street
5th Street and Leigh Street
7th Street and Clay Street
7th Street and Leigh Street

The improvements will be made to improve motorist and pedestrian safety. Motorists and pedestrians can expect temporary sidewalk and traffic lane closures during portions of the construction.

Traffic alert: Ramp Closures

The Downtown Expressway Meadow Street on and off-ramps and travel lanes will undergo alternating closures Saturday, May 7 and Sunday, May 8 due to maintenance preparation work.

The eastbound on-ramp will be closed on both days from 7 a.m. to 12 p.m. The westbound off-ramp will be closed on both days from 12 to 5 p.m.

Motorists are advised to take alternate routes, and to use caution in the area along Meadow Street.

A traffic alert for drivers in the Downtown area: East Marshall Street between 12th Street and 13th Street will be closed on Saturday, May 7, from 7 a.m. until 6 p.m.

This section of East Marshall Street will be closed while repairs are being made to the building at 1222 E. Marshall St.

A traffic alert for drivers in the Downtown area. East Main Street between 9th Street and 10th Street will be closed on Saturday, May 7, from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.

This section of East Main Street will be closed during the removal of elevator equipment from the roof of 909 E. Main St.

Traffic alert: Lane closures

A traffic alert for Downtown drivers -- there will be lane closures on East side lane of North 9th Street between East Main Street and Bank Street from Monday, May 2, 8 a.m. to Friday, September 9, 9 p.m.

A temporary cooling system for the Pocahontas Building, 900 E. Main Street, is being placed in that section of the street.
