Cold Weather Overflow Shelter opening Tuesday night

RICHMOND, VA (WWBT) – Because temperatures are expected to be below 35 degrees Tuesday night, Richmond will be opening the city’s Cold Weather Overflow Shelter.

The shelter opens at 7:00 p.m. at Sixth Mount Zion Baptist Church, located at 14 W. Duval St. The shelter closes Wednesday morning at 6:00.

Food will not be provided and pets are not allowed.

The city’s Cold Weather Overflow Shelter will open tonight, January 10, as overnight temperatures are forecasted to remain at or below 35 degrees. The shelter is located at Sixth Mount Zion Baptist Church, 14 West Duval Street. The shelter opens at 7 p.m. and closes the following morning at 6 a.m. Food will not be provided and pets are not allowed.

Residents in need of overnight shelter are asked to report to Commonwealth Catholic Charities Central Intake by 5 p.m.

RICHMOND, VA (WWBT) – Because overnight temperatures are expected to remain near freezing, Richmond's Cold Weather Overflow Shelter will be opening Thursday night.

The shelter opens at 7:00 p.m. and closes at 6:00 a.m. Friday. It is located at Sixth Mount Zion Baptist Church at 14 W. Duval Street.

Food will not be provided and pets are not allowed.

Cooling shelters open until 5pm

The city will open two cooling shelters this Saturday, July 30, from noon to 5 p.m., to assist residents with the day’s forecasted high temperatures. City cooling shelters are opened when the temperature and/or heat index reaches or exceeds the 95 degree mark. The weekend cooling shelter locations are:

            ● Southside Community Services Center, 4100 Hull Street Road

            ● Department of Social Services, 900 East Marshall Street

City Cooling Shelters Open

The city will open three cooling shelters to assist residents with today’s high temperatures. City cooling shelters are opened when the temperature and/or heat index reaches or exceeds the 95 degree mark. City cooling shelters will open from noon to 5 p.m. today and are located at:

            ● Southside Community Center, 4100 Hull Street Road

            ● Department of Social Services, 900 East Marshall Street

            ● East District Center, 701 North 25th Street

The city’s Cold Weather Overflow Shelter will open tonight, March 11 as overnight temperatures are forecasted to remain at or below 35 degrees. The shelter is located at Sixth Mount Zion Baptist Church, 14 West Duval Street. The shelter opens at 7 p.m. and closes the following morning at 6 a.m. Food will not be provided and pets are not allowed. The shelter will be closed Saturday, March 12 and Sunday, March 13.

Residents in need of overnight shelter are asked to report to Commonwealth Catholic Charities Central Intake by 5 p.m. for a comprehensive intake and referral to the appropriate shelter. Commonwealth Catholic Charities Central Intake is located at the Freedom House Conrad Center, 1400 Oliver Hill Way, next to Richmond Juvenile and Domestic Relations Court and Richmond City Jail.
